TV4 has renewed its exclusive Swedish rights to Serie A, keeping Italy’s top football league on TV4 Play for the new season. The agreement continues TV4’s long-running relationship with Serie A and gives the broadcaster a premium European football property alongside its domestic and international sports rights.TV4 sports director Johan Cederqvist said: “We have had the rights to Serie A for many years and the league complements our football offering in a very good way.“It is a league with high quality, big clubs and players who engage a broad audience. It is also a league with a long history of having many Swedish players in its clubs. We look forward to continuing to give viewers international top football on TV4 Play.”All Serie A matches will be shown exclusively on TV4 Play, with the 2026/27 season scheduled to begin on August 22.The renewal gives TV4 regular club football content across the season, supporting subscriptions and engagement on its streaming platform.Serie A’s Swedish appeal is supported by the league’s historic connection with Swedish players and its leading clubs, including Inter, Juventus, Milan, Roma and Napoli.Current Swedish players in the league include Isak Hien at Atalanta, Jesper Karlström at Udinese and Juventus defender Emil Holm. The rights sit within a wider TV4 portfolio that includes the Olympic Games from 2026 to 2032, the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, UEFA Euro 2028, Allsvenskan, Superettan, SHL, HockeyAllsvenskan, the ATP Tour, the Women’s Super League, UEFA Women’s Champions League and the World Rally Championship. The Serie A renewal gives TV4 continuity in a category where European league rights remain important to streaming platforms seeking year-round sports inventory.
