Tottenham upgrades stadium technology for AI-led event economy

Tottenham have expanded their long-standing relationship with HPE, which becomes the club’s Official Hybrid Cloud and IT Enterprise Networking Partner.The programme combines HPE GreenLake, AI-driven networking, cloud infrastructure and outdoor Wi-Fi 7 across Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.Tottenham chief technology officer Rob Pickering said: “Our goal isn’t simply to refresh our infrastructure.” He said the objective is a simpler and more resilient environment capable of supporting long-term growth.The infrastructure supports ticketless entry, cashless payments, mobile applications, digital navigation, security and other systems used throughout the stadium.That makes the technology commercially important because Tottenham operate the venue across football, NFL, concerts, boxing and other major events.High stadium utilisation increases the demands placed on payment systems, connectivity and operational technology beyond those of a football-only venue.HPE’s GreenLake platform will provide a unified hybrid-cloud operating model and greater visibility across Tottenham’s IT environment.The project also consolidates infrastructure previously distributed across eight locations into two core environments.AI-driven systems will monitor network and application performance, identify problems and automatically take action where possible.Tottenham are also among the first stadium operators deploying outdoor Wi-Fi 7, designed to support large numbers of users simultaneously accessing digital services and sharing content.The commercial value extends beyond reliability. Better connectivity supports transactions, digital engagement and data capture while reducing the risk that technology failures interrupt customer spending or event operations.The infrastructure also gives Tottenham greater flexibility to introduce new digital services without rebuilding the technology stack for each application.HPE Financial Services will buy back eligible legacy equipment for refurbishment and resale as part of the upgrade, adding a lifecycle and sustainability element to the programme.Tottenham’s stadium continues to function as a useful benchmark for football clubs seeking to generate revenue from venues throughout the year.The HPE expansion shows that technology capacity is increasingly part of that infrastructure strategy rather than simply an IT support function or sponsorship asset.
