Sunderland deepen Seriös partnership as data becomes strategic club asset
Sunderland AFC have extended their partnership with Seriös Group, deepening a data-led relationship that now spans football performance, commercial operations, fan engagement and sustainability.
Sunderland AFC have extended their partnership with data solutions company Seriös Group, building on a relationship that has increasingly embedded data across both football and business operations.Seriös Group will continue as Sunderland’s official data partner, supporting the club through its Seriös ONE platform. Financial terms and the length of the extension were not disclosed.Sunderland chief business officer David Bruce said: “Our partnership with Seriös Group has brought game-changing improvements to both our football performance and commercial operations.”“Through the power of integrated data, we're creating a smarter, more agile, and more engaged club.”The partnership has developed from its initial focus on player and opposition analysis into a wider club-wide data strategy.Seriös ONE brings together information from areas including CRM, ticketing, retail, digital platforms, social media, stadium metrics and academy performance, creating a single source of data across the organisation. That gives Sunderland a stronger foundation for commercial decision-making, with the club able to use integrated customer and operational data to improve fan engagement, understand spending behaviour and support more targeted revenue activity. The technology also has applications beyond direct commercial returns.Seriös has previously worked with Sunderland on monitoring energy consumption and space utilisation across the Stadium of Light and Academy of Light, supporting the club’s longer-term sustainability objectives. The extension also has strategic value for Seriös Group. The Newcastle-based company has used its Sunderland relationship as a showcase for its technology and sports-sector credentials, with the partnership giving it visibility across professional football.Seriös began working with Sunderland in 2022 before announcing a formal multi-year partnership in 2023.The relationship has since expanded as Sunderland have increasingly treated data as a central operating capability rather than solely a football analytics function. That approach gives the club the potential to connect sporting, supporter and commercial information more closely, allowing management to make faster decisions across areas ranging from player performance to ticketing and retail. The renewed agreement will continue that process, with Seriös positioned as a long-term technology partner as Sunderland look to derive greater operational and commercial value from their data infrastructure.
