SportyNet deepens football rights push with Serie A package

SportyNet has secured rights to show Serie A in Brazil during the 2026-27 season through a one-year sublicensing agreement with ESPN, further expanding the broadcaster’s international football portfolio.The package covers two matches per round and 76 games across the season, with coverage available on SportyNet’s pay-TV channel and free via its official YouTube platform.ESPN will remain the primary Brazilian rights holder for Serie A, with the full 380-match competition continuing to be available across ESPN and Disney+ Premium.SportyNet’s package will include selected matches involving leading Italian clubs including Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Napoli and Roma.The agreement strengthens the channel’s existing Italian football offer, which already includes the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana.It also continues SportyNet’s expansion under Sporty Group, which acquired the broadcaster in 2025 before rebranding it from Nosso Futebol.Since then, the company has broadened its rights portfolio across domestic and international football, with properties including Brazil’s Série B and Série C, the Bundesliga and Liga MX.The Serie A deal also illustrates ESPN’s willingness to use sublicensing to broaden the reach of selected premium football rights while maintaining its own comprehensive coverage.That strategy creates additional free-to-air digital exposure for Serie A in Brazil without removing the competition from ESPN’s subscription ecosystem.SportyNet will carry its 76-match package throughout the 2026-27 campaign, adding another established European league to a football schedule that has expanded significantly since Sporty Group took control of the channel.
