Sky Italia adds Euro 2028 to long-term football rights push
Sky Italia has secured a broad UEFA men’s national-team rights package until 2028, adding every match from Euro 2028 alongside Nations League and European Qualifiers inventory as it strengthens its position around premium European football.
Sky Italia has acquired rights to Euro 2028, the 2026-27 UEFA Nations League and the European Qualifiers for the next European Championship, expanding its football portfolio across both club and national-team competitions.The broadcaster will show all 51 matches from Euro 2028 on Sky and streaming service NOW, with 24 fixtures available exclusively on its platforms.Sky EVP of sport, news and entertainment Giuseppe De Bellis said: “We are proud to announce this new agreement, which further enriches the European offering of the House of Sport and confirms Sky as a premium partner of UEFA.“This acquisition also means believing in the path towards Italian football regaining its continental or global place, and accompanying audiences as they discover the players who, wearing the Azzurri shirt, have the task of restoring the honour of Italian national-team football.”Coverage begins with the 2026-27 Nations League, where Sky will show selected group-stage matches involving international teams before carrying every fixture from the Finals in June 2027, including Italy should they qualify.The package also includes leading matches involving foreign teams during Euro 2028 qualifying, play-offs and selected international friendlies, alongside highlights from every fixture.The rights give Sky a continuous national-team football proposition running from the Nations League into qualifying and ultimately Euro 2028, reducing gaps between major tournaments and helping maintain subscriber engagement across international windows.That continuity complements Sky Italia’s substantial club football portfolio.The broadcaster already holds UEFA Champions League rights until 2031, including 185 of 203 matches per season exclusively, alongside exclusive Europa League and Conference League coverage.Its domestic and international offering also includes selected Serie A matches, Serie C, Premier League and Bundesliga rights.The national-team package therefore reinforces Sky’s strategy of concentrating a large proportion of premium European football within the same subscription ecosystem while using NOW to address streaming audiences.Euro 2028 will run from June 9 to July 9 across the UK and Ireland, with Wembley hosting eight matches including both semi-finals and the final.Securing the tournament alongside its qualifying cycle gives Sky a two-year programming runway around one of football’s largest broadcast properties and strengthens its ability to use major tournament football for subscriber acquisition and retention.
