brief

The Saudi Pro League has agreed a partnership with Footballco to show selected high-profile fixtures through GOAL’s Front Three, linking creator-led broadcasts with its wider direct-to-consumer distribution strategy.Coverage will be available in the UK and Ireland, Belgium, the Nordic countries and Canada, combining live match footage with watchalongs, discussion and social clips.Footballco senior vice-president for the Middle East Andy Jackson said: “While we’re looking forward to offering fans the ability to stream matches from the RSL on GOAL this season through Recast, we wanted to offer fans something different and the chance to experience some of the biggest games this season in a unique way with the creators they’re used to seeing on a daily basis.“We’ve seen this approach work before, with our watch-a-long broadcast and social content from last year’s Riyadh Derby being viewed 3.8 million times.”The partnership begins with the fixture involving Al-Qadsiah and Al-Hilal on October 23, followed by Al-Ittihad against Al-Ahli on November 26 and Al-Nassr against Al-Hilal on December 10.Footballco’s Middle East brand Yalla GOAL will contribute analysis and build-up, with hosts Youssef Othman and Amn Ghelioun explaining the players and stories behind the fixtures.Clips from the watchalongs will subsequently appear across Front Three’s TikTok, Facebook, YouTube and Instagram accounts, extending the content beyond the live audience. The commercial objective reaches beyond views on those platforms, with Footballco seeking to convert greater familiarity with the competition into transactions through GOAL.Jackson explained: “We also recognize that we have an opportunity to grow awareness and fandom of the RSL in these markets, through GOAL’s Front Three broadcasts, which can then translate into a transactional relationship on our website through our relationship with RSL and Recast.”The initiative builds on the league’s direct-to-consumer rollout across 16 markets through Recast, including the UK and Ireland, the Nordics and Canada. That model allows approved publishers and content partners to distribute live matches through their own digital platforms, adding access points rather than requiring every viewer to visit a single league-owned service.Saudi Pro League digital media rights director Mohamed Rassmy said: “Our partnership with Footballco reflects the Roshn Saudi League’s commitment to finding innovative ways to connect with international audiences and grow the Roshn Saudi League’s global fanbase.“By combining live football with the reach and influence of established digital creators, we can engage fans on the platforms they already use, while making the RSL more accessible and building stronger relationships with supporters around the world.”The league says the arrangement complements its existing international coverage, which spans more than 180 territories through 45 partners.IMG holds the competition’s worldwide media distribution rights under an agreement running until the end of 2028/29, with the Footballco initiative adding creator-led presentation and publisher-based streaming to that distribution mix.
