Marseille rename stadium as CEPAC Vélodrome
Olympique de Marseille have renamed the Stade Vélodrome as the CEPAC Vélodrome under a seven-year naming-rights agreement that strengthens the club’s commercial relationship with one of southern France’s largest financial institutions.
Olympique de Marseille have agreed a seven-year stadium naming-rights deal with Caisse d’Epargne CEPAC, replacing Orange as the title partner of the Stade Vélodrome. The venue will officially become the CEPAC Vélodrome from July 2 and retain the name until 2033. Financial terms were not disclosed. The agreement expands a relationship between Marseille and Caisse d’Epargne CEPAC that has developed over several decades.CEPAC is already one of the club’s leading commercial partners and has a substantial consumer, corporate and institutional presence across southern France and overseas territories.Attaching the brand to Marseille’s home gives the bank recurring exposure across Ligue 1, UEFA competitions, concerts and other major events staged at the venue. The naming rights will also extend across broadcast coverage, ticketing, signage, digital platforms and club communications.Marseille gain a long-term central revenue stream at a time when French clubs are seeking to reduce their dependence on domestic media distributions. The club have faced sustained financial pressure from high operating costs, squad investment and uncertainty across the French broadcast market.Naming rights provide income that is less closely connected to sporting results, although the value of the partnership will still be influenced by Marseille’s participation in European competition and the stadium’s event calendar. The agreement replaces Orange’s naming-rights partnership, which began in 2016 and established the venue as the Orange Vélodrome.Retaining Vélodrome within the new identity preserves the name most closely associated with the stadium and reduces the risk of resistance from supporters.Marseille’s ground is one of the largest club stadiums in France, with a capacity of more than 67,000, giving CEPAC access to a substantial matchday audience and one of the country’s most visible sporting venues. The stadium is owned by the City of Marseille and operated under a structure involving the club and venue management partners. That arrangement means naming-rights income and commercial control depend on agreements between multiple stakeholders rather than belonging entirely to Marseille. The club have nevertheless increased their ability to generate revenue from the venue through ticketing, hospitality, sponsorship and events. The CEPAC agreement deepens that strategy by tying a major regional business to the stadium’s identity across seven seasons.New branding will be installed before the start of the 2026–27 campaign, with the CEPAC Vélodrome name applying to Marseille matches and other events from July 2.
