Louis Vuitton turns World Cup trophy ritual into luxury retail opportunity
Louis Vuitton has expanded its FIFA World Cup involvement through an official supplier and licensing agreement that combines high-profile final-day exposure with a limited-edition luxury product collection.
Louis Vuitton has been appointed an Official Supplier and Branded Licensee of the FIFA World Cup 2026, extending a collaboration that gives the luxury house a prominent role in the tournament’s final ceremony and new retail rights around the competition. The company has created a bespoke trunk to transport and display the FIFA World Cup Trophy. It will be carried onto the pitch before the final by a Louis Vuitton ambassador and a FIFA Legend as part of the tournament’s entertainment and ceremonies programme.FIFA chief business officer Romy Gai said: “Louis Vuitton brings a unique blend of heritage, craftsmanship and prestige to the FIFA World Cup.“The Official Trophy is the most coveted prize in world football and it is only fitting that it is carried in a Louis Vuitton trunk. The moment it is brought onto the pitch ahead of the final match will once again be a highlight, connecting tradition with the pinnacle of modern football.”The supplier designation gives Louis Vuitton exposure around one of the tournament’s most recognisable ceremonial moments, while the licensing component creates a direct commercial route into collectible luxury goods. The trunk was produced at Louis Vuitton’s workshops in Asnières-sur-Seine near Paris. It features the company’s monogram canvas, a hand-painted gold “V” representing victory and Vuitton, leather trim and gold-plated brass fittings. Its interior is lined with light beige leather and carries a joint Louis Vuitton and FIFA partnership mark. The design continues the company’s “Victory travels in Louis Vuitton” positioning across major international sports properties.Louis Vuitton chairman and chief executive Pietro Beccari said: “We are thrilled to continue this partnership for the FIFA World Cup 2026. At its heart stands the world’s most coveted trophy, a symbol of dedication, collective ambition and the ultimate celebration of victory.”The brand has produced trophy trunks for every men’s FIFA World Cup since the 2010 tournament in South Africa, followed by editions in Brazil, Russia and Qatar.Louis Vuitton will also release three limited-edition trunks under the licensing agreement. The collection includes cases designed to hold eight and 16 watches, alongside a larger Malle Courrier Lozine 110 trunk. Each product carries the monogram canvas, a hand-painted FIFA World Cup design and the gold “V” motif. The range extends the partnership beyond ceremonial visibility into high-value merchandise aimed at luxury collectors and football audiences. The official trunk will make its on-pitch appearance at the FIFA World Cup final, giving Louis Vuitton a globally televised platform at the tournament’s decisive commercial and sporting moment.
