Legend Beer gets five-year JPL launchpad in Wisynco deal

Wisynco Group is taking over Jamaica Premier League title rights under a reported $300m five-year agreement that will use domestic football to accelerate the growth of its newly launched Legend Beer brand.

brief

Wisynco Group has agreed a five-year title sponsorship of the Jamaica Premier League, replacing Wray & Nephew and placing Legend Beer at the centre of the competition’s commercial identity. The agreement has been reported at $300m over five years, although the available announcement does not specify the currency.Wisynco said the commitment represents “five years of investment in Jamaican football. Stronger League, Brighter Future.”The deal carries a particularly clear corporate-growth rationale because Legend is a new entrant to Jamaica’s beer market. Wisynco launched the brand in 2025 as it expanded beyond its established soft-drink and water businesses into alcoholic beverages. In January, the company opened a US$35m brewery and manufacturing facility at Lakes Pen in St Catherine. That investment gives Wisynco local capacity across beer, stout, malt and ready-to-drink products. The JPL now becomes a major domestic marketing platform for establishing Legend in a category where consumer habits and existing brands are already well established. Wisynco will replace Wray & Nephew, whose latest period as title sponsor began in 2023.The league has historically relied on major Jamaican consumer brands for its naming rights, with previous partners including Red Stripe and Digicel. Legend therefore enters a sponsorship asset with established national visibility at the same time Wisynco is attempting to build awareness, trial and repeat purchasing around the beer. The five-year commitment also provides the JPL with substantially more commercial certainty than a short-term sponsorship cycle. The 2026/27 season begins on September 6.Confirmation of the sponsorship currency, payment structure and any revenue distribution to clubs would provide a clearer picture of the agreement’s financial impact on the league. The strategic logic is already apparent: Wisynco is connecting significant new manufacturing capacity with one of Jamaica’s most prominent domestic sports properties to accelerate the creation of a national beer brand.
