LaLiga has agreed a new four-season rights deal with Disney+ in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Iceland while extending its existing partnership with TV 2 in Norway until 2030.From the 2026/27 season, all 380 LaLiga matches will stream live through ESPN on Disney+ in the four markets, alongside studio programming, analysis and selected local-language commentary.LaLiga president Javier Tebas said: “We are very pleased to strengthen LaLiga’s position across the Nordic region through these agreements with Disney+ and TV 2.“Bringing LaLiga to ESPN on Disney+ in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Iceland is an important step forward for our growth in Northern Europe and allows us to connect with new audiences through one of the world’s leading content platforms.”The Disney agreement also includes rights to the Copa del Rey, giving subscribers access to Spain’s two principal domestic men’s competitions under one platform. The package will be included within existing Disney+ subscriptions, using live football to support customer acquisition, retention and engagement across the Nordic streaming market.Disney’s entry also extends ESPN’s relationship with LaLiga into more European territories, complementing existing rights arrangements in the United States, South America, the UK and Ireland.Karl Holmes, general manager of Disney+ EMEA, said: “Loved for its intensity, iconic clubs and moments of brilliance, LaLiga is one of the true jewels of the football calendar and consistently creates the kind of drama and excitement football fans want to be part of week after week.”Disney has been increasing its European sports portfolio through ESPN on Disney+, with further rights including UEFA club competitions in Sweden and Denmark from the 2027/28 season. The LaLiga agreement gives the platform regular premium content across 10 months of the year, providing a consistent programming asset rather than a short-duration tournament.TV 2 will retain LaLiga rights in Norway, extending a relationship that began with the 2021/22 season.Tebas said: “Renewing with TV 2 in Norway is equally important, as it reflects the value of continuity in a market where we have built a strong relationship with fans together with a trusted local broadcaster.”The split strategy allows LaLiga to combine Disney’s international streaming scale across four territories with an established domestic broadcaster in Norway.TV 2 chief executive and editor-in-chief Olav T. Sandnes said: “We are thrilled to continue to offer LaLiga, one of the best football leagues in Europe, to Norwegian fans.”The agreements secure LaLiga’s Nordic distribution until the end of the 2029/30 season and provide a longer-term platform for audience development, sponsorship visibility and local activation across the region.
