Kalshi signs Argentina World Cup deal with Messi-led campaign
Kalshi has signed a FIFA World Cup 2026 sponsorship agreement with the Argentina Football Association and used Lionel Messi in its launch campaign as prediction markets deepen their push into mainstream sport.
Kalshi has become an official sponsor of the Argentina Football Association for the duration of the FIFA World Cup 2026, pairing the prediction market platform with the defending champions and Lionel Messi. The agreement gives Kalshi access to AFA intellectual property, including Argentina’s crest and sky-blue and white branding, for use across tournament marketing. The partnership will also include co-branded activations and coordinated social media campaigns throughout the World Cup.Messi promoted the agreement on Instagram alongside Argentina teammates Rodrigo De Paul and Nicolás Otamendi, giving Kalshi an immediate global marketing platform around one of football’s most recognisable figures. The campaign launched shortly before Argentina begin their title defence against Algeria in Kansas City.Kalshi stated: “Kalshi will serve as an official sponsor of the AFA for the duration of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The partnership includes co-branded activations, coordinated social media campaigns, and Kalshi’s use of AFA intellectual property, including Argentina’s iconic sky-blue and white crest, across its marketing materials.”The agreement also includes an official data component involving Genius Sports, the AFA’s data and streaming partner.Genius Sports will provide Kalshi with verified match data to support the creation and settlement of prediction market contracts linked to Argentina and the tournament.Kalshi commented: “By using verified official data as a consistent source of truth, the agreement will contribute to enhancing transparency while reducing reliance on unofficial or delayed data sources.”The data arrangement is important because prediction markets depend on clear and timely settlement criteria, particularly around high-volume live sporting events.Kalshi allows users to trade contracts based on the outcome of events, including sport, and positions itself as a prediction market rather than a conventional sportsbook. That distinction has enabled the company to operate across much of the US under a different regulatory framework from sports betting, although state-level opposition is increasing and Minnesota has moved to ban prediction markets. The AFA deal adds to Kalshi’s growing sports roster, which includes athlete relationships with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bryson DeChambeau. Connor McDavid, Marshawn Lynch and Breanna Stewart have also been linked to the business as investors or partners. The Argentina agreement gives Kalshi its most prominent football property to date and places the company alongside Messi during the most commercially valuable period in the international game.
