Juventus have appointed Giovanni Carnevali as chief executive and general manager, handing the former Sassuolo executive responsibility for the club’s sporting and commercial management. The leadership change follows Damien Comolli’s immediate departure by mutual agreement, only a year after he joined Juventus and later moved into the chief executive role.Juventus said Carnevali has been tasked with strengthening the club’s sporting and industrial project, bringing the football and corporate sides under his overall management.Carnevali commented: “I am proud and honoured to join a club with such a rich history and strong identity. I would like to thank the club, the majority shareholder, and John Elkann for the trust they have placed in me. I approach this new challenge with a strong sense of responsibility and with the conviction that, through daily commitment, it is possible to build a sustainable path of growth and a successful future.“Together with all areas of the organisation, we will work to ensure that Juventus continues to be a leading force at both national and international level, in full respect of the club’s heritage and the ambitions of our fans.”Carnevali arrives after a long spell at Sassuolo, where he served as chief executive from 2012 and helped establish the club as a regular Serie A presence with a strong reputation for talent development and player trading. His work at Sassuolo was also built around cost control and value creation, areas that remain important to Juventus as they seek to improve sporting performance while maintaining financial discipline.Carnevali has also served on the Lega Serie A board, giving him experience in wider strategic discussions around Italian football’s media, governance and commercial development.Comolli joined Juventus in 2025 as general manager before becoming chief executive in November, but his tenure ended after the club finished sixth in Serie A and qualified for next season’s UEFA Europa League.Comolli stated: “I have decided to step down from my role as chief executive officer of Juventus Football Club with immediate effect. I would like to thank John Elkann and Exor for giving me the opportunity to work for such a prestigious club.“I would also like to thank all my colleagues at Juventus for their commitment, professionalism and dedication, and I wish both the women’s and men’s teams every success for the upcoming season. Finally, a special thank you goes to the Juventus fans for their incredible support. They are what makes this club truly unique and special.”Carnevali will work alongside head coach Luciano Spalletti, who signed a contract until 2028 in April, as Juventus prepare their squad and operating plan for the 2026–27 season.
