Heineken signs global Baller League partnership
Heineken has launched a global partnership with Baller League, combining sponsorship of match features with arena experiences and pub activations as the six-a-side competition begins its fourth UK season.
Heineken has agreed a global partnership with Baller League, giving the brewer a presence across the competition’s live events and digital content alongside activations in selected UK pubs. The agreement launches as Baller League UK begins Season 4 on October 12, with Heineken sponsoring two ‘Gamechanger’ moments in each match, when randomly selected rule changes alter the competition.Heineken global head Nabil Nasser said: “Baller League shows just how quickly football fandom is evolving. It brings the worlds of sport, entertainment and personality together in a format built for participation, both online and in real life.“This is what makes it a natural partner for Heineken, because we believe that the best moments in football are the ones that are shared with other people. Whether fans are following the action live, talking about it with friends, or playing around the Foosballer Table themselves, this partnership gives fans more ways to connect through the game.”The brewer will establish several branded spaces at the Baller League Arena at Eastbrook Studios in Dagenham, including a pitchside Front Row Experience, Heineken Lounge and Mixer Zone.Hosts Josh Denzel and Lyes Bouzidi will create content from the Mixer Zone, connecting the arena activity with audiences following the competition through streaming and social platforms.A further initiative, ‘Coaster Conversations’, will encourage interaction between supporters, extending the sponsorship beyond advertising into activities built around the event’s social setting. The launch campaign features a bespoke six-a-side foosball table with figures representing personalities including KSI, Chloe Kelly, Micah Richards, Alex Iwobi and Mark Goldbridge.Supporters will be able to use the table at the arena, with selected fans given opportunities to play against Baller League players, managers and personalities during the season.Limited-edition versions will also appear in selected Heineken Star Bars and UK pubs, giving the competition a presence in hospitality venues beyond its matchday location.Baller League chief executive Felix Starck commented: “Baller League is about creating a new way for fans to experience football, bringing together sport, entertainment, talent and culture in a format built for participation.“Heineken shares that belief in the power of football to bring people together and this partnership allows us to take that experience even further, from the Arena and our digital platforms into the social spaces where fans connect and share the game.“Together, we’re creating new ways for our community to experience Baller League and bringing the partnership to life across every touchpoint.”Baller League reported 344 million short-form social views during its third UK season, alongside an average of 1.3 million unique live viewers per matchday, rising to 1.85 million for the Final Four.More than 70 per cent of viewers were aged between 18 and 34, providing Heineken with access to an adult audience engaging with a format combining football, entertainment and online creators. The partnership adds to Baller League UK’s commercial activity ahead of Season 4, following its agreement with Clearpay covering sudden-death penalties, transfer windows and digital content.
