eToro uses Leeds partnership to target football’s female investor gap

eToro has signed Leeds United and Leeds United Women to a multi-year commercial partnership designed partly to use football’s reach to address the company’s female-investor growth opportunity.

brief

Leeds United have named eToro official trading partner of both their men’s and women’s teams under a multi-year agreement beginning in 2026/27.The deal gives the investment platform matchday, digital and activation rights across the club rather than concentrating its sponsorship exclusively on the men’s first team.eToro marketing director Stephanie Wilks-Wiffen said: “Football brings people together through a sense of community, which is central to eToro.”eToro will receive pitch-side LED exposure, stadium-screen inventory and branding on interview backdrops at Elland Road. The partners will also develop digital content and supporter activations. The more distinctive element is eToro’s stated intention to use the relationship with Leeds United Women to make investing more visible and accessible to female audiences. That objective sits alongside the company’s Loud Investing initiative, which focuses particularly on women because they remain less likely than men to invest. The sponsorship therefore combines conventional brand exposure with a customer-acquisition objective linked to an identifiable demographic gap.Using rights across the men’s and women’s teams gives eToro different routes into the same supporter ecosystem while allowing activations to be tailored by audience.Financial terms were not disclosed. The agreement adds Leeds to a broader eToro sports portfolio that already includes Nottingham Forest and Crystal Palace across their men’s and women’s teams. The platform also has relationships with clubs in Ligue 1 and properties across men’s and women’s rugby. That pattern suggests the Leeds agreement is part of a wider strategy of using sport to position investing as a mainstream consumer activity rather than a specialist financial product. The commercial test will be whether the partnership produces programmes capable of moving beyond awareness.Dedicated education, participation initiatives or measurable increases in female engagement would give the women’s-team component considerably more substance. At launch, however, Leeds provide eToro with both Premier League-scale visibility and a specific audience-development platform across the club.
