Dortmund extends SPORTFIVE partnership to 2034
Borussia Dortmund has extended its commercial marketing partnership with SPORTFIVE until June 2034, retaining the agency to develop sponsorships, hospitality sales and international business opportunities.
Borussia Dortmund and SPORTFIVE have agreed an early extension of their commercial marketing partnership until June 30, 2034, continuing a relationship that began in 1999.The agency will support the Bundesliga club in acquiring and managing sponsors, developing new commercial opportunities and selling hospitality at SIGNAL IDUNA PARK.Dortmund chief executive Carsten Cramer said: “Our partnership with SPORTFIVE has been defined by trust, reliability and an entrepreneurial mindset for many years. Together, we have continuously developed our commercial activities and unlocked significant growth opportunities.“We are therefore delighted to continue this successful journey until 2034. With SPORTFIVE, we have a partner at our side who understands our ambitions and supports us in further developing Borussia Dortmund both nationally and internationally.”The extension establishes a longer planning horizon for Dortmund’s commercial operation, with the partners intending to develop existing sponsorships alongside identifying new business areas.Their priorities include new approaches to sponsorship activation and strengthening the club’s international positioning, extending the remit beyond securing individual agreements.Hospitality remains another part of the relationship, with SPORTFIVE continuing to market premium offerings at Dortmund’s stadium alongside its sponsorship responsibilities. The agreement will take the partnership to 35 years if it runs through its full term, making continuity a central feature of the club’s approach to commercial representation.SPORTFIVE Germany managing director Hendrik Schiphorst said: “Borussia Dortmund is one of Europe’s best-known and most distinctive football brands. We are proud to have supported the club for more than a quarter of a century and would like to thank everyone at BVB for their tremendous trust in our work.“The early extension until 2034 is a strong endorsement of the quality of our partnership and, at the same time, an incentive to continue pursuing our shared growth trajectory. We look forward to further developing BVB’s commercial activities in the years ahead with fresh ideas and great passion.”The partners attributed the early renewal to their commercial progress, describing the agreement as providing planning certainty for both organisations.SPORTFIVE’s responsibilities span the development of prospective relationships and the management of established partners, giving the agency an ongoing role after sponsorship contracts are signed. That includes helping brands activate their association with Dortmund through campaigns and supporter-facing initiatives, while seeking opportunities aligned with the club’s domestic and international ambitions. The agency operates across sponsorship, media and other commercial services in multiple sports, with more than 1,200 staff across 15 countries.Dortmund’s extended agreement retains access to that international network as the club and agency pursue further sponsorship growth and develop their hospitality business.
