DAZN retains exclusive Serie A rights in France until 2029

DAZN has renewed its exclusive French rights to Serie A, the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana until 2029 as it builds a broader football aggregation strategy around Ligue 1+ and international competitions.

brief

DAZN has extended its exclusive French media rights agreement with Lega Serie A for three seasons, retaining every match from Italy’s leading domestic competitions until the end of 2028–29.The agreement covers Serie A, the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana from the start of the 2026–27 season. Financial terms were not disclosed.DAZN France chief executive Brice Daumin said: “This renewal with Lega Serie A reflects our commitment to delivering an ever-richer experience for football fans in France.“By bringing together Ligue 1+, Serie A, the Coppa Italia, the Supercoppa Italiana, the Copa del Rey and several international leagues, we continue to strengthen one of the most comprehensive football offerings available in the French market.”DAZN will continue showing every Serie A fixture with French-language coverage, alongside the full schedules of Italy’s domestic cup and season-opening competition. The renewal protects an established international rights relationship while giving Lega Serie A continued distribution in one of Europe’s largest pay-television and streaming markets.Italian football also benefits from a strong cultural and audience connection with France, including interest in leading clubs and French players competing in Serie A.DAZN used on-site production for selected major matches during 2025–26 and supplemented live coverage with original Serie A programming, presenters and former players.Maintaining that editorial investment will be important as the platform seeks to distinguish its coverage from a simple live-streaming service and strengthen engagement outside match windows. The rights form part of a wider aggregation strategy in France. DAZN is a major distribution partner for Ligue 1+, the French league’s official direct-to-consumer platform, giving its customers access to every Ligue 1 match. Its football portfolio also includes the Copa del Rey, Eredivisie, Belgian Pro League and Saudi Pro League, alongside international competitions and archive content.FIFA+ has also been added as a free-to-view service within DAZN, providing historic footage, documentaries, original productions and selected live events.Combining domestic and international properties on one platform allows DAZN to target football supporters with a broader year-round offer while reducing reliance on any single rights package. The structure also gives DAZN an opportunity to cross-promote Serie A to Ligue 1 viewers and use Italian football to retain subscribers across weekends and periods when domestic interest is weaker.Competition remains intense in the French sports media market, where consumers face multiple subscriptions and rights holders must balance income against reach. The agreement gives DAZN and Lega Serie A stability across the next three seasons, with the renewed cycle beginning when the 2026–27 campaign starts.
