DAZN keeps Serie A UK rights but exclusivity narrows
DAZN has retained its Serie A rights in the UK and Ireland for 2026-27, keeping every match on its platform but reducing its exclusive allocation from eight to seven fixtures per round.
DAZN has renewed its Serie A broadcast rights in the UK and Ireland for one season, maintaining its position as the league’s main streaming partner in the markets while its exclusive match inventory falls from last season. The platform will carry all 380 Serie A matches during 2026-27, with seven fixtures per round exclusively available on DAZN. That compares with up to eight exclusive matches per round under its 2025-26 agreement, when the remaining two fixtures were non-exclusive.Shay Segev, chief executive of DAZN Group, said: “Serie A is one of the world’s great football competitions, with a passionate fanbase and a rich football heritage. We are delighted to continue our partnership with Lega Serie A and to bring every match to fans across the UK and Ireland for the 2026-27 season.”The agreement gives DAZN another season with a major European domestic league in a UK portfolio that also includes the National League, National League North and National League South, alongside FIFA+ content and football highlights.Serie A became a significant addition to DAZN’s UK offering last year, giving the streaming service comprehensive live rights to one of Europe’s major leagues after its UK business had previously been more closely associated with boxing and other sports.Financial terms of the renewal were not disclosed. DAZN Standard subscriptions in the UK start from £15.99 per month on an annual monthly-payment plan, with Serie A included within the package. The one-year term contrasts with DAZN’s longer commitments to Serie A elsewhere in Europe. The company has renewed exclusive rights in France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland until the end of the 2028-29 season, covering Serie A, Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana matches.DAZN is also Serie A’s principal domestic broadcaster in Italy, giving the platform a growing role in the league’s distribution strategy across both its home market and major international territories. The reduction from eight to seven exclusive matches per round leaves a slightly larger portion of Serie A’s UK and Irish inventory available on a non-exclusive basis, while allowing DAZN to retain the central proposition of offering supporters access to the full season. The 2026-27 renewal therefore preserves Serie A as a key part of DAZN’s efforts to build a broader football subscription proposition in the UK while the streamer continues to consolidate rights to the Italian league across multiple European markets.
