DAZN doubles down on English football across Iberia
DAZN has extended its exclusive Premier League rights in Spain and Portugal until 2031 while adding the FA Cup in both markets, reinforcing English football as a central part of its Iberian subscription strategy.
DAZN has renewed its exclusive Premier League rights in Spain and Portugal until 2031 and will add comprehensive FA Cup coverage in both countries from the 2028-29 season.The agreement extends a contract previously due to expire in 2028, giving DAZN every Premier League match live and on demand alongside highlights and supporting programming across the new three-season cycle.DAZN Iberia chief executive Óscar Vilda said: “The Premier League is one of the most prestigious and widely followed competitions in the world and occupies a central place in DAZN’s offering in Portugal and Spain.“This renewal strengthens a long-standing partnership based on mutual trust and inspires us to continue offering fans in both markets the most innovative and comprehensive coverage until 2031.”DAZN has carried the Premier League in Spain since the 2019-20 season, meaning the extension will take the platform beyond a decade as the competition’s exclusive broadcaster in the market.The service began showing the Premier League in Portugal in 2022-23 and will reach nine consecutive seasons under the renewed agreement, with all 380 matches available during each campaign.DAZN Portugal managing director João Diogo Ferreira said: “This agreement confirms the ambition with which we are building DAZN’s future in Portugal: ensuring continuity for competitions that are central to fans and strengthening the portfolio with important new rights.“We have renewed the Premier League, one of the pillars of our portfolio, and secured the historic Emirates FA Cup for the first time.”The FA Cup package will give DAZN more than 500 English football matches per season in Portugal, while the competition will return to the platform in Spain during the same 2028-31 cycle.Financial terms were not disclosed, but the deal provides DAZN with premium weekly inventory capable of supporting subscriber acquisition and retention across both countries.The Premier League and FA Cup will sit alongside an Iberian rights portfolio that includes LaLiga, the Bundesliga, Serie A, Ligue 1, the Eredivisie and UEFA club competitions.DAZN’s control of both competitions also creates opportunities for unified marketing, editorial programming and advertising packages built around English football throughout the season.
