DAZN adds Eredivisie to Spanish football rights push
DAZN has acquired Spanish rights to the Eredivisie for the 2026-27 season, adding Dutch football to a portfolio that already includes major domestic leagues and international competitions.
DAZN has secured rights to broadcast the Eredivisie in Spain during the 2026-27 season, strengthening its football schedule as the streaming platform seeks to consolidate its position in one of its core European markets.The agreement will bring Dutch top-flight matches to DAZN subscribers throughout the campaign, beginning with the opening round on August 7, while financial terms were not disclosed.The acquisition expands a Spanish football offering that includes LaLiga, the Premier League, Serie A and the Bundesliga, giving DAZN regular live inventory from several of Europe’s leading domestic competitions.DAZN has also recently added the UEFA Nations League and Spain’s third-tier Primera Federación, increasing the volume of football available across international breaks and weekends.The Eredivisie provides a different proposition from the platform’s larger rights packages, combining recognised clubs including Ajax, PSV Eindhoven and Feyenoord with a competition known for developing young players before transfers into Europe’s wealthiest leagues.That profile gives DAZN content capable of appealing to supporters interested in emerging talent and European club performance, while creating additional opportunities around highlights, analysis and transfer-focused programming.The deal also strengthens the Eredivisie’s visibility in Spain after its rights had previously been distributed through Gol Stadium and Gol Play, moving the competition onto a broader multisport subscription platform.Rights to smaller European leagues can help streaming services reduce gaps in their schedules without requiring the investment associated with premium domestic packages, while adding value for subscribers seeking a wider range of live football.DAZN has already committed to five LaLiga matches per round from 2027 until 2032 and holds exclusive Premier League rights in Spain until 2028, giving the company a long-term foundation around which to add complementary competitions.The Eredivisie agreement extends that strategy into the Netherlands and provides DAZN with further weekend inventory as the platform seeks to improve subscriber acquisition, retention and viewing time in Spain.
