Copenhagen owner explores football and stadium sale options
PARKEN Sport & Entertainment has appointed Tifosy to explore investment and sale options for its football businesses, including F.C. Copenhagen, with the stadium and office property portfolio also under review.
PARKEN Sport & Entertainment has begun a strategic review that could lead to a full or partial sale of F.C. Copenhagen and related football businesses, with Tifosy Capital & Advisory appointed as exclusive financial adviser. The process also covers a possible disposal of PARKEN Ejendomme, which owns the stadium and its office towers, although a property transaction is not a condition of any sale of the football operations. In its announcement, the board stated: “The board of directors of PARKEN Sport & Entertainment A/S has determined that it is appropriate at this time to explore whether there are any strategic opportunities, outside of the group’s current ownership, which can contribute to strengthening the continued development of F.C. København as Scandinavia’s leading football club including through continued investment in sporting performance, fan experience and football infrastructure.”Announced on October 13, the review encompasses F.C. København P/S, women’s football company F.C. København Kvindefodbold A/S and the group’s ownership interest in Swedish club FC Rosengård 1917 Elitfotboll AB.Hospitality activities within PARKEN Services are also included, extending the scope beyond the teams to associated commercial operations. The board intends to discuss the alternatives with a carefully selected group of potential investors, considering whether a change in ownership or external participation could support further development.A partial divestment could introduce an investment partner while retaining an existing ownership interest, whereas a full sale would transfer control of the relevant businesses. The separate treatment of the football and property portfolios gives the group flexibility to consider different transaction structures, with potential investors able to assess the club operations independently of the stadium and office assets. That distinction is significant because ownership of the football businesses and ownership of their physical infrastructure need not change together under the announced process.Tifosy will advise on the review and prospective transactions, providing a single financial adviser across the football and property alternatives being examined.PARKEN confirmed: “The group’s operations, including F.C. København’s sporting activities, continue as normal during the period.“There is no certainty that a divestment in whole or in part of either F.C. København or PARKEN Ejendomme A/S will be completed.”The announcement therefore establishes an exploratory process rather than an agreed transaction, with neither the eventual ownership structure nor the inclusion of the property business settled.PARKEN will not comment on rumours about interested investors and said further company announcements would be issued when circumstances require. The review places Copenhagen’s men’s and women’s football activities, the Rosengård interest and related hospitality operations within a broader assessment of how outside capital or ownership could support future investment.
