CONCACAF hands Netflix exclusive Mexico rights for Gold Cup and Nations League Finals
CONCACAF has agreed a four-year media rights deal that makes Netflix the exclusive home in Mexico for the 2027 and 2029 editions of the Gold Cup and Nations League Finals, accelerating the streamer’s move into live football while giving the confederation a high-reach platform in one of its most valuable markets.
CONCACAF has struck a broadcast agreement with Netflix covering the next two editions of the confederation’s men’s national team tentpoles, handing the streamer exclusive rights in Mexico for the 2027 and 2029 Concacaf Gold Cup and Concacaf Nations League Finals. The package matters commercially because Mexico is a core audience for both competitions, and exclusivity gives Netflix a clear subscription proposition around premium live football while offering CONCACAF a platform partner with deep marketing reach and product-led discovery.CONCACAF said the agreement is limited to Mexico and applies only to the men’s national team competitions included in the partnership.Philippe Moggio, CONCACAF general secretary, said: “We are very excited to partner with Netflix in Mexico as we continue to strengthen how fans connect with our premier national team competitions.“We know that in Mexico, the passion for football is truly unique, and this agreement allows us to bring these competitions closer to millions of fans through a new platform. It also reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality access to tournaments that mean so much to our region.”Netflix positioned the deal as part of its broader push into live events, with football singled out as a high-frequency driver of engagement in Mexico.Carolina Leconte, Netflix vice president of content for Mexico and Latin America acquisitions, said: “At Netflix, we are increasingly investing in live events that connect with our audience’s greatest passions, and football is, without a doubt, the passion that unites us as Mexicans.“Concacaf national team matches bring together millions of fans in Mexico like few other events can.“We are thrilled that, over the coming years, fans in Mexico will be able to experience the Concacaf Nations League Finals and the Concacaf Gold Cup exclusively on Netflix, with no additional fees.”CONCACAF said the fifth edition of the Nations League Finals will be staged in March 2027 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles, featuring the four quarter-final winners. The 2027 Gold Cup will follow in the summer of the same year with 16 teams, with the tournament crowning the region’s men’s national team champion. The rights move adds to the wider trend of confederations carving out market-specific packages to lift total value, even as fragmentation increases the importance of clear consumer messaging around where premium matches sit.Execution will be closely watched by clubs, leagues and sponsors in the region, with Netflix’s ability to convert marquee match windows into sustained retention likely to shape how aggressively streamers pursue further football rights in Latin America.
