brief

Chelsea have signed a global partnership with Chinese automotive manufacturer GAC, providing the company with a football marketing platform as it develops its sales operations and vehicle range across the UK and Europe.GAC becomes the men’s team’s official automotive partner, extending a relationship established during Chelsea’s 2026 pre-season tour through matchday activity, digital content and supporter experiences.Chelsea said: “GAC and Chelsea first joined forces for the 2026 pre-season tour and this new chapter together will see vehicles from GAC’s AION range escorting the men’s team to Stamford Bridge on selected matchdays. We will also collaborate on digital storytelling, fan experiences and engagement including car displays, providing opportunities for the Chelsea family to discover GAC and its vehicles.”The manufacturer has identified the UK and Europe as important markets in its international development, with the sponsorship complementing product launches, sales-channel expansion and customer support infrastructure. The agreement gives GAC access to Chelsea’s international supporter base, enabling it to introduce vehicles to audiences beyond the automotive channels traditionally used to reach prospective customers. Its European range includes the AION V electric SUV and AION UT compact electric hatchback, with planned vehicle displays providing opportunities for supporters to see the models alongside the partnership’s digital activity. The AION vehicles’ involvement in selected matchday journeys to Stamford Bridge will also bring the product range into the team’s arrival programme, connecting the sponsorship with a recurring part of the football calendar. The partnership forms part of GAC’s ‘One GAC 2.0’ global strategy and its ‘Local for Local’ approach, which focuses on adapting international growth to individual markets.Chelsea’s global reach will be combined with activities shaped around local interests, linking the manufacturer’s wider brand ambitions with engagement aimed at supporters and consumers in its target regions. The agreement adds another international business to Chelsea’s commercial portfolio, with its announced scope focused on the men’s team and fan activity around the club. The two organisations plan to use digital storytelling alongside physical experiences, giving GAC opportunities to explain its vehicles while placing them within a football setting. The club’s announcement continued: “The UK and Europe are important markets in GAC’s international development. The partnership with Chelsea adds a new dimension to this work, complementing product introductions, sales-channel development and customer support. It will help GAC reach audiences beyond traditional automotive channels as the company continues to build its presence across the region.”
