FC Bayern Women have signed a two-year partnership with Munich luxury brand MCM that will include a joint fashion collection and expand the team’s commercial positioning beyond traditional sponsorship.
FC Bayern Women have agreed a two-year partnership with luxury fashion brand MCM, combining two Munich-based organisations in a deal designed to connect elite women’s football with fashion, travel and lifestyle culture. The agreement will include a joint collection scheduled for release this autumn. Financial terms and details of MCM’s branding rights were not disclosed.FC Bayern board member for marketing and sales Rouven Kasper said: “In MCM, FC Bayern has gained a partner that is a perfect fit for our women’s team. Both brands are based in Munich, stand for performance and development, and share a modern, self-assured attitude.“Our women’s team embodies top-class sport at the very highest level, whilst MCM brings a strong design, travel and cultural DNA to the table. We see great potential in this combination to further strengthen women’s football.”The partnership gives Bayern Women another premium consumer brand as they develop a commercial platform that can operate independently from the club’s men’s team.MCM will use the agreement to strengthen its presence in sport during its 50th anniversary year. The company was founded in Munich in 1976 and has since developed into an international luxury brand recognised for its leather goods, accessories and travel products.FC Bayern Women director Bianca Rech said: “We’re delighted that this partnership will enable us to further expand our women’s team’s platforms in a targeted manner.“This underlines the growing economic and communicative significance of women’s football. The partnership is a natural fit not only because we both hail from Munich, but also because it creates a credible space to combine sport and fashion and raise the profile of women’s football even further.”The planned collection will take the relationship beyond conventional sponsorship inventory and create products that can generate direct consumer engagement. That approach reflects a broader shift in sports partnerships, with brands increasingly seeking collaborations built around merchandise, content and culture rather than relying solely on logo exposure.MCM chief brand officer Dirk Schönberger said: “Football has always been part of MCM’s DNA. It is woven into Munich’s culture and into our identity as a brand.“The partnership with FC Bayern Women felt like the next natural step, two institutions with the same German roots, the same pursuit of excellence and a shared belief in the power of movement.”The agreement also highlights the growing ability of leading women’s teams to attract luxury and lifestyle partners seeking access to new audiences and more flexible storytelling opportunities.Bayern and MCM will begin activating the partnership around the joint collection this autumn, with further campaigns expected across the two-year term.
