brief

AZ Alkmaar have agreed a new partnership with HappyBed that will integrate the sleep brand directly into player recovery facilities at the AFAS Training Complex.HappyBed becomes an Official Business Partner and will supply beds, mattresses and washable bedding for 22 new rest rooms being created as part of redevelopment work at the training ground.AZ Commercial Director Michael Koster said: “At AZ, we believe everyone’s battery needs to be recharged to 100% every night in order to perform optimally. Especially when you are growing, learning and playing sport. That is why we have focused on the importance of sleep and recovery from our youth academy onwards.”The new rooms are designed to give first-team players additional opportunities to rest and recover between training sessions and matches.Sleep already forms part of AZ’s wider development philosophy, with the club incorporating recovery and healthy lifestyle education into its AZ 11 methodology for players. The agreement therefore goes beyond conventional sponsorship inventory, with HappyBed products being incorporated directly into the club’s performance environment.HappyBed Co-Founder Sierd Zijlstra said: “AZ has a clear vision on the role of sleep within elite sport and development. We believe the quality of your sleep contributes directly to your happiness and wellbeing. This partnership fits perfectly with that.“It is also an important step in our ambition to serve a larger part of the sleep market with innovative products. We are proud to become an official partner of AZ.”The partnership also gives HappyBed a platform to support its wider expansion strategy. The company is developing new beds and mattresses alongside its existing washable duvet products, with those ranges expected to become available to consumers over time. That creates a clear commercial link between the products being used by AZ players and HappyBed’s plans for the broader consumer sleep market. The model reflects a wider opportunity for sports partnerships built around operational relevance rather than visibility alone. HappyBed gains association with elite performance and a live environment in which its products are being used, while AZ secure equipment aligned with an established area of player development. The 22 new rest rooms will form part of the upgraded AFAS Training Complex, embedding HappyBed’s products into AZ’s day-to-day recovery infrastructure.
