APL extends Paramount ANZ deal to keep every A-Leagues match on Paramount+
The APL has extended its media partnership with Paramount ANZ for three years, keeping every A-Leagues match live on Paramount+ while increasing free-to-air reach via Network 10.
The Australian Professional Leagues (APL) and Paramount Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) have agreed a three-year extension that retains Paramount+ as the exclusive home for live coverage of every Isuzu UTE A-League Men and Ninja A-League Women match. The renewal follows an open market process and is structured to widen distribution beyond subscription streaming, with Network 10 increasing the amount of A-Leagues content available free-to-air and on 10’s owned digital platforms.Under the deal, one A-League Men match per week will be broadcast live free-to-air on Network 10, with selected marquee fixtures airing on the main 10 channel. The women’s competition will continue with all matches live on Paramount+ and live and free on 10 Streaming, plus 10 matches per season on 10 Drama including the Ninja A-League Women Grand Final.Steve Rosich, Chief Executive Officer, Australian Professional Leagues, said: “After an extensive open market process which showcased the demand and value of the A-Leagues, we’re really pleased to renew our partnership with Paramount+ and Network 10 – the home of Australian football.“The process highlighted that Paramount+ and Network 10 provide us with, not just a commercial growth outcome, but the most free-to-air exposure to the alternate offerings, with Paramount+ providing reach and an affordable streaming service for football fans.”The renewed rights package also expands non-live distribution, with Paramount+ offering minis, highlights and match replays across both men’s and women’s competitions.Network 10 will continue to carry Football Tonight ahead of each free-to-air men’s match, while Total A-Leagues and DubZone will be made available on 10 Streaming, adding shoulder programming designed to build habitual viewing beyond live windows.Adam Cush, Director of Sport, Paramount Australia and New Zealand, said: “We are incredibly proud to continue our partnership with the Australian Professional Leagues and to build on the strong foundation we have established together.“The A-Leagues’ future in this country is bright, and we are determined to play our part in expanding its reach, growing its audience and giving football the platform it deserves.”The extension takes the total partnership to eight years and includes an increased annual rights fee, plus a joint commitment to increase marketing and promotion activity.APL also said the deal includes a push to expand accessibility of A-Leagues content in pubs and clubs, targeting a distribution gap that can limit casual viewing and matchday-style social consumption. The renewal lands with Paramount+ and Network 10 pointing to audience growth, with A-Leagues viewing on Paramount+ up 55% in 2025–26 compared with 2021–22 and a combined reach of four million Australians across streaming and broadcast ahead of the finals series. The next rights cycle begins with the 2026–27 A-League Men and A-League Women seasons scheduled to start on October 16.
